Sermorelin
Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide made of the first 29 amino acids of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1–29) — the shortest fragment that still triggers GH release.
Mechanism
It binds GHRH receptors on the pituitary, which then releases growth hormone in its natural pulsing pattern. Its use in assessing pituitary GH output has been described in research (Prakash & Goa, 1999; Walker, 2006).
Research Applications
- GH-axis and pituitary-function research (Prakash & Goa, 1999)
- GH-secretagogue pharmacology
- Age-related GH-decline models (Walker, 2006)
- Comparative GHRH-analog studies
