Follistatin-344
Follistatin-344 is a single-chain glycoprotein that binds and neutralizes members of the TGF-β superfamily, particularly myostatin and activin. This naturally occurring protein is a key regulator of muscle growth.
Mechanism of Action
Follistatin-344 binds myostatin with high affinity, preventing it from activating its receptor and suppressing muscle growth. Research shows roles in muscle hypertrophy and reproductive signaling (Esposito et al., 2022). Studies in IBD show diagnostic potential (Skrzypczak et al., 2021).
Research Applications
- Myostatin inhibition studies (Esposito et al., 2022)
